Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It was invented in the 1960s by three friends in Washington state, who were looking for a new game to play on a badminton court. They created the game using a perforated plastic ball, wooden paddles, and a modified badminton net, and named it "pickleball" after the dog of one of the inventors, Pickles.
Pickleball started to gain popularity in the 1970s, as more and more people began to learn about the game and play it in their communities. The game's simplicity and versatility made it appealing to players of all ages and skill levels. Additionally, pickleball is easy to learn and accessible, as it requires minimal equipment and can be played on a variety of surfaces, including gyms, tennis courts, and even driveways. As a result, it has become increasingly popular, especially among older adults and retirees, and it is now played in all 50 states, as well as in many countries around the world.
